Boston is made up of 23 unique and lively neighborhoods which vary in size and personality. Residents can explore an arts district, Chinatown, historic sites, and vibrant student communities. Students live in many neighborhoods around the city but most choose to live within walking distance of UMass Boston.
From Hot to Cold…and Everything in Between
In the spring and summer, enjoy beautiful beaches, sailing, kayaking, hiking in the mountains and cycling in the parks. In the fall enjoy the foliage and apple picking and in the winter enjoy ice skating, skiing and snowboarding all within an hour’s drive.
Getting Around
UMass Boston students can get discounted transit passes and take a free shuttle bus to and from a major subway station near campus. Buses also stop right on campus. Many students also walk or bike to campus.
Take a train down to New York City (3.5 hours), Philadelphia (5 hours) or Washington D.C. (7 hours) for the weekend.
